Laser Hair Removal

Laser is for both men and women who want to reduce or get rid of unwanted hair. Unlike waxing, threading, epilating or creams, laser hair removal is far beneficial in that the hair reduction is more permanent.

At Muni’s Laser is available until 10pm by appointment. Why not book in a free consultation and patch test to see if we can help you feel fabulous and smooth. We offer affordable prices and special offers monthly.

Love to Laser at Muni’s offers permanent hair reduction for all skin tones safely. We use a Nd:Yag Laser light at 1064nm so melanin absorption is very low. As a result the risk of skin pigmentation damage, either hyper or hypo, is very low, making long pulsed Nd:Yag lasers the only choice for hair removal on skin types III-VI.

  • Type I Always burns, never tans (pale white; blond or red hair; blue eyes; freckles).
  • Type II Usually burns, tans minimally (white; fair; blond or red hair; blue, green, or hazel eyes)
  • Type III Sometimes mild burn, tans uniformly (cream white; fair with any hair or eye color)
  • Type IV Burns minimally, always tans well (moderate brown)
  • Type V Very rarely burns, tans very easily (dark brown)
  • Type VI Never burns, never tans (deeply pigmented dark brown to darkest brown)

How does the process work at Love to Laser

Its simple, just book an appointment for a patch test. Our team like to be honest and also take time to listen to what the client wants to achieve.  The procedure will be explained and you will be informed of how long to wait until you can book in so long as you don’t have a reaction to the patch test. Laser is not invasive and very safe but patch tests are good to determine if someone may not be suitable. You will leave with a good understanding and a before and after guide.

How many treatments do I need?

The reduction process can vary slightly for each individual but where there are dark, thick hairs there results can be seen even after the first session. After 6-8 treatments the area is likely to be left with very few thin hairs that can easily go un-noticed. If the hairs are thin, especially on the face, there will be more sessions required.

Does Laser work on all skin tones?

Not all lasers work safely on all skin tones. Our Nd:Yag is perfectly safe to be used on all skin tones.

Does laser work on all colour hair?

Laser does not work on blond, red or grey hairs as the heat source emitted from the laser is drawn to the pigment found in dark hair

How long does the treatments take?

Time depends on treatment area. If someone decides to do underarms for example it may take 15 minutes, however for half legs it could take up to 1 hour.

How often will I need a treatment?

Follow up treatments usually happen between 4 – 6 weeks. The technician is there to ensure you are getting the laser done when it’s required rather than requesting clients to come every 4 weeks and having a treatment with little regard to the regrowth. We will always advise people in accordance to what is needed to make sure clients get the best results without spending unnecessarily.

Can I have laser if I am pregnant?

No laser treatments can be performed during pregnancy or the breastfeeding period

Information about lasers and IPL’s

Laser technology is much more effective than IPL as they are far more precise and can selectively target coarse, dark hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Laser machines produce a single wavelength of light. This is advantageous because it has a pure light consisting of one single colour and form. Lasers have a very concentrated beam and specific target which is the melanin in hair follicle. Laser machines create more heat directed at the hair follicle than IPL systems, therefore providing better results. IPL’s are not lasers. The machines produce a broad spectrum of wavelengths and cannot be focused to a concentrated beam. Because a range of different wavelengths are dispersed at a variety of depths only some of these will be effective for hair reduction. This is a disadvantage for IPL as it has more of a shallow penetration in comparison to laser so the deeper hairs are not treated effectively. In addition, some of the light cannot be absorbed into the surrounding tissue, leading to heating of the pigment in the skin. This is why there is more of a risk of burns for a darker skin type. There are several different laser machines, some of which are limited to lighter skin tones for safe use. At Munis we use an Nd:Yag laser as its safe for all skin tones.
